Supporting First Responders: Trauma, Nervous System Regulation, and Clinical Strategies for Sustainable Resilience • 2.0 CEs approved for HIAMFT, CAMFT, & NASW-HI First responders face chronic exposure to trauma, high-stakes decision-making, and cumulative stress that often goes unseen in traditional clinical models. This training equips mental health providers with neuroscience-informed, trauma-responsive tools for effectively supporting firefighters and other first responders. Participants will explore how cumulative stress and trauma impact the nervous system, learn to identify signs of dysregulation and shutdown, and practice regulation strategies grounded in polyvagal theory and interoceptive awareness. Emphasis is placed on culturally responsive care, peer support dynamics, burnout prevention, and clinically appropriate interventions that respect the unique identity and resilience of first responder communities.
